A true golfer doesn't let sun or rain stop him from enjoying the game he loves. When the sun is out, players won't have much problems with their golf apparel. The regular collared shirts, slacks and visors or shades are usually enough. However, during rains and windy conditions, these do not offer enough protection against the elements. You will need to have waterproof, rainproof and windproof golf gear that allow you to play even under the most unsuitable playing conditions.
Jackets and trousers that are waterproof are effective in keeping you dry as you play. Usually made of Goretex, these waterproof pants and coats ensure that your body is completely dry even in the wettest of conditions. By using absorbent film in between the textile layers, the holes are small enough to keep out water but big enough to allow air to enter and circulate. When you buy waterproof apparel, make that the outerwear comes with a three-year guarantee.
Rainproof golf gears, meanwhile, are manufactured using fabric that's treated with Teflon. They are best worn during light drizzles and short showers. They are lightweight and will only get you wet when you are playing during periods of prolonged rain.
Windproof golf gears are tailored to specifically prevent the wind from affecting your game. While they also provide minor protection during light drizzles, they do not provide much protection against heavy downpours.
Buying wet season golf gear is essential for any serious golfer. While fair and sunny weather often provide the best course conditions for play, sudden rains often occur. Moreover, there are times when it's best to play during light drizzles and showers. Too much ultraviolet radiation exposes the golfer to sunburns and increases his risk for skin cancer when done too much without proper UV protection such as a sunscreen lotion. A little bit of wind and rain makes a more comfortable playing environment.
